These Game of Thrones-Inspired Cats Are Encouraging Pet Owners to Adopt

Cats may not be as scary as dragons, but they’re definitely cuter! While the adorable Khaleesi cats (@thekhaleesicat) and Drogo’s namesakes are feared throughout Westeros, these adorable Game Of Thrones-Inspirational cats are loved on the internet and use their influence to encourage more people to adopt their own cats!

Khaleesi and Drogo’s cat dad, Jordan Stewart, runs the “Khaleesi Cat” account alongside his girlfriend, Mary. “Growing up, I always loved cats,” Jordan tells In The Know. “I wanted to have a cat when my girlfriend and I moved in together. The house was a little too lonely and too quiet, and we were just missing something.

Jordan and Mary chose to adopt Khaleesi and Drogo, a decision that led to one of the brand’s important pillars. “I know it’s very easy to want to go to a breeder to get a specific pet,” Jordan says. “But if you can consider adopting, and also adopting older animals, because they’re neglected as well, that’s a really big thing for us.”

The origins of the names Drogo and Khaleesi come from the hit HBO series. Game Of Thrones, of whom Jordan and Mary have been “huge fans” their entire lives. “We were naming names somehow and I said the name ‘Drogo’ and it was like something just clicked,” Jordan says.

Khaleesi’s popularity was initially due to her unique appearance. With two different colored eyes and vibrant white fur, Khaleesi quickly became popular on social media and her parents began creating content for her growing group of fans.

“The type of content we put out on social media is mostly just slapstick humor,” Jordan tells In The Know. “We ended up having a lot of inside jokes with our fans that they now expect us to do in a lot of our videos.”

Never losing sight of what their fans want, Jordan and Mary work to keep viewers on their toes and are constantly evolving the type of content they create.

“Since our first post, we’ve incorporated other things into our humor, like twerking,” Jordan explains. “We just tried to make things that we find funny, and I hope our fans find it funny too.”

Although humor is at the forefront of the Khaleesi Cat brand, Jordan and Mary use their platform for good and hope to encourage their followers to give back in meaningful ways, especially when it comes to helping animals and shelters for animals.

“We’ve worked with shelters, we’ve worked with big companies to get supplies and get them to people who need them,” says the proud cat dad. “I think one of the most important things we’re looking for is to try to encourage adoption and give pets in shelters a chance, because there are a lot of people who neglect them sometimes. “

As the couple continues to use their influence to give back, it’s clear that for Jordan, the Khaleesi Cat brand is much more than just a short-term hobby.

“Over the years, it has definitely become one of my passions. If you asked me three years ago what I thought I would do, it definitely wouldn’t be creating videos of my cats on social media,” says Jordan. “It’s really become a passion and something I’ll probably do for the rest of my life.”
