Mason Greenwood proposed Man Utd transfer exit as ex-Premier League manager considers move for striker

FRENCH giants Marseille are reportedly exploring a deal to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United.

According to The Athletic, the two clubs have started discussions over a potential deal for the 22-year-old.

It was reported that talks between the clubs were in their early stages and finances had not yet been discussed.

While the discussions between Marseille and Greenwood himself would have been positive.

The 22-year-old would join Roberto De Zerbi if he were to join the Ligue 1 side, with the former Brighton boss expected to be named Marseille’s new manager.

There are plenty of other options for Greenwood after impressing on loan with Getafe last season.

The Bradford-born player has scored eight goals and registered six assists in 33 La Liga appearances.

And his efforts earned him Getafe’s Player of the Season award.

Italian trio Lazio, Juventus and Napoli are all linked with a move for Greenwood this summer.

While clubs across Europe, including Borussia Dortmund, are also said to be attracted to the former England international.

Despite a long list of potential suitors, The Athletic claims Greenwood prefers a move to Marseille over his other options at this stage.

Manchester United hope to be able to sign their academy graduate on a permanent deal this summer.

However, a loan or training period at Carrington has not been ruled out by the Red Devils bosses.

If a loan was on the table, it was widely reported that Getafe would be willing to re-sign Greenwood for a second consecutive campaign.

Greenwood has not played for Man Utd since January 2022 and was loaned out after his charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior and assault were dropped.
