Declares Ending Billion-Dollar Russo-Ukrainian War

The cost of the war between Russia and Ukraine crossed the billion dollar mark in June 2024. The war which began in February 2022 has not yet ended despite thousands of deaths. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) condemned the war, calling Russia’s actions against Ukraine “unprovoked aggression”. China has now entered Russia-Ukraine talks after meeting NATO President Mark Rutte and pledged to end the war.

China is seeking to sideline NATO and take credit for ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. China is a close ally and trading partner of Russia and has rarely discussed the Ukraine conflict at the meetings. Jinping and Putin have chosen to talk about bilateral trade deals, de-dollarization, and oil purchases, among other things, rather than war.

It is NATO that is constantly working to find a solution to the war between Russia and Ukraine, not China. Therefore, China talking about declaring an end to the billion-dollar Russian-Ukrainian conflict has no weight in the international community. The United States has already provided Ukraine with weapons and financial support approaching $400 billion.

NATO countries have also provided billions in aid to Ukraine to help it fight Russian aggression. China has not provided financial aid to Russia and Ukraine, but only plans to shift the blame to NATO, the United States and the West. The war has lasted for more than two years with no end in sight.
