Lakers unlikely to consider trading Austin Reaves

The Los Angeles Lakers are not expected to trade Austin Reaves this offseason. Reaves is a coveted potential target as the Lakers weigh their options for a major move. The Lakers drafted Dalton Knecht at 17th overall and they are expected to keep him as the franchise appears to have given up on trading future draft capital in a short-term move given LeBron James’ age.

“To be clear, the Lakers, I don’t see any scenario where they could trade Austin Reaves this offseason,” Shams Charania said on The Pat McAfee Show Thursday. “If anybody saw how complimentary JJ Redick was about Austin Reaves … JJ Redick wants Austin Reaves to really reach his potential. To be an All-Star caliber player. Whatever it is. He has high hopes for Austin Reaves.”

Reaves re-signed with the Lakers last offseason on a four-year, $56 million contract.
