Mute button attempts to stop Trump’s one-liners

(NewsNation) – Lara Trump claims the microphone cutoff during the presidential debate was an attempt to stop former President Donald Trump’s one-liners.

Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee and daughter-in-law of Donald Trump, said the first presidential debate of 2024 is “obviously” being held to help President Joe Biden.

“I think this is an attempt to stop Donald Trump from doing what he does best, which is these quick one-liners,” Lara Trump said Thursday during “Debate Night with Chris Cuomo.”

The rules of the debate included muting one candidate’s microphone while the other was speaking, not using assistants and not taking pre-written notes.

Lara Trump said she was confident that Donald Trump would do very well in this debate against Biden.

“The bar has been set so low for Biden that if he gets on stage and basically stands for the entire debate, a lot of people are going to say, ‘Look, Joe Biden can do this,’” Lara Trump said.
