Lifeline Recovery Center Announces West Paducah Women’s Center and Fundraising Campaign | News

PADUCAH — The Lifeline Recovery Center long-term residential addiction recovery program will begin construction on a new 45-acre women’s campus in McCracken County, the organization announced Thursday.

A news release from the Christian Church-affiliated Lifeline Recovery Center said the new center will be built at 8650 Old Highway 60, near Barkley Regional Airport in west Paducah. Board Chairman Steve Powless announced the new facility and a major fundraising campaign at Thursday’s 20th annual banquet. The announcement comes less than two years after announcing the acquisition of a 45-acre men’s campus in Ballard County.

The campaign, titled “A Campaign for Recovery: Breaking the Cycle of Addiction, One Life at a Time,” has raised $11 million so far, or 85 percent of its $13 million goal. The fundraiser, which began in 2023 and is expected to end in 2026, aims to provide $7 million for the new campuses. The women’s facility will include a chapel, housing, restaurants, educational, counseling and administrative spaces. Construction on the women’s facility is expected to begin later this year.

Three million dollars in funding will be allocated to increase program staffing and reduce staff-to-client ratios. An additional $3 million will be used for an endowment ensuring long-term financial sustainability, according to the release.

Powless said both the men’s and women’s campuses will provide room for future expansion.

“Our creativity was only limited by lack of space,” Powless said, “and now that won’t be a problem.” »

Lifeline Recovery Center has served over 2,000 people in its 20 years of operation.

“Why do we do this? Because everybody knows somebody who’s struggling with addiction,” Powless said. “Six Kentuckians die every day from addiction. And we turn away about 25 percent of the people who come to us to get sober because of limited space or staff.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the campaign can give cash, either directly or over three years; gifts of stock; planned gifts such as life insurance policies or annuities; or qualified charitable distributions for individuals over age 70 donating directly from a taxable IRA.
