TV Star Gets ‘Brutally Honest’ About Network After Show Canceled

Jared Padalecki is getting “brutally honest” about the CW after the network canceled his TV show “Walker.” The 41-year-old actor told Variety that he loved doing the modern reboot of “Walker, Texas Ranger” and “would have done the show forever,” but it was abruptly cut short earlier this month , right before the season 4 finale – leaving several cliffhangers without a true series finale.

Padalecki, who previously starred in “Supernatural” (for 15 seasons!) and “Gilmore Girls” for the same network (formerly known as The WB and UPN), said he was disappointed with the management changes since the resignation from longtime CEO Mark Pedowitz in October 2022. Past hit series included “One Tree Hill,” “Gossip Girl,” “The Vampire Diaries” and DC Comics’ “Arrow”-verse, but the only current show that was renewed beyond its current season is “All American: Homecoming.” .”

“They’re just changing the network, where it’s not really a television network anymore, but it’s more like, ‘Here’s something fun for an hour that you’ll never watch again, but I hope you watch it.’ And it’s cheap!” Padalecki said. “I hate to say it, but I’m just being honest. I mean, damn it. They can’t fire me anymore… I’m just being brutally honest. I think I felt like they were looking for really simple, cheap content that they could spend time with.”

Meanwhile, ET reports that Padalecki has hinted that he could reunite with “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke and co-star Jensen Ackles on Amazon Prime’s “The Boys,” which will film its fifth and final season next year.

“So yeah, I’m going to go play in Kripke’s new playground,” Padalecki told Variety. “I had a great time the first time, so I’m sure I’ll have a great time here again. I love the show. I think it’s hilarious and exciting… I love Jensen and Eric Kripke. So to work with him on a show that I love, I’m like, ‘Yeah, when am I leaving?’”
