Citadel Hires New Compliance Officer, From Millennium

Portfolio managers aren’t the only ones with careers that bounce between multi-strategy hedge funds. These opportunities are also open to compliance professionals. Nathan Perrone, who works in equity compliance at Millennium, has taken advantage of them.

After five and a half years at Millennium, where he worked in equities compliance consulting, Perrone has joined Citadel, where he is the new head of compliance for Citadel’s global equities and corporate operations. ‘Ashler Capital. The hedge fund manages a total of four fundamental long/short strategies, including Global Equities and Ashler.

Citadel’s Global Equities business appears to favor compliance hires from Millennium. In 2019, he hired Michael Loughney from Millennium to do the same job Perrone currently has. Loughney has been Head of Compliance for Citadel APAC since 2023.

Perrone spent most of his career in the banking industry. Before joining Millennium in 2019, he spent almost five years in electronic trading compliance at UBS, where he provided advice on algorithmic trading compliance.

Compliance consulting is often considered the pinnacle of a compliance career, as it is a partnership role involving the provision of expert advice on potential transactions and, as such, is treated with more respect than the average compliance officer position.
