Silent Witness has welcomed Strangers and The Gentlemen star Jason Wong to the cast ahead of its 24th series.

The long-running crime drama, which recently began filming new episodes after a series of coronavirus-related delays, focuses on a group of forensic scientists and the investigations they are involved in.

Wong’s involvement is expected to mark something of an on-screen reunion between him and Emilia Fox, who plays Dr Nikki Alexander and has led the series since 2004, as the pair previously starred together in ITV’s Strangers in 2018.

In the new episodes of Silent Witness, Wong will play Adam Yeun, a confident and brilliant pathologist who initially rubs Nikki and Jack (David Caves) the wrong way.

“I’m so excited to be joining Silent Witness, like everyone else I’ve been a huge fan of the show for years and to be part of the family is a huge privilege.” he said in a prepared statement.

“I can’t wait for the audience to see what we have in store for them in this new series.”

“It’s fantastic to be back filming Silent Witness season 24 with five great new storylines, our wonderful team, great new actors for each story and to welcome the incredibly charming and talented Jason Wong to the Lyell team, who is an absolute pleasure to work with,” added Fox.

Filming for the new episodes is now underway, nine months after the series 23 finale aired in February.

“We are delighted to be filming Silent Witness and welcoming Jason,” concluded Jo McClellan, BBC One executive producer.
