Longford and Roscommon shocked by death of ‘gentleman, fantastic kayak instructor and friend’ Junior Hannon

There is much sadness and shock in Longford and Roscommon following the death of Patrick “Junior” Hannon who was remembered as “a gentleman, a fantastic kayak instructor and friend”.

Junior of 5 Meadowbrook, Ballyleague, Co Roscommon and formerly Roscommon Town moved to its eternal reward suddenly on Friday June 28th.

He will be sadly missed by his mother Christina, his wife, his sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbors and friends. He was predeceased by his father PJ. May Junior rest in peace.

Roscommon Civil Defence posted a tribute on Facebook to their dedicated volunteer.It is with deep sadness that we learned this morning of the death of the third officer, Volunteer Junior Hannon.

The late Junior Hannon will be laid to rest at his home in Ballyleague (N39 AX70) on Sunday afternoon June 30 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The departure will take place on Monday morning July 1 at the Church of the Holy Rosary in Ballyleague, where he will arrive for the Mass of the Resurrection at 12 p.m. Burial will then take place in St Coman’s Cemetery, Roscommon.
