Jiminy Glick Performs Trump-Inspired Parody “Cranky Doodle Dandy”

Martin Short may no longer be the host Jimmy Kimmel Live! but his alter ego, Jiminy Glick, is. The odious character took over the talk show on June 27, allowing him to weigh in on the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

Glick is of course not a standard commentator. He’s probably the broadest, most absurd, craziest talk show host this side of Eric Andre. Instead of verbally criticizing Donald Trump, Glick took the musical route. He put on a hat and a microphone and decided to perform a song called “Cranky Doodle Dandy.” You can probably guess what standard it’s based on.

“Cranky Doodle went to town to call the news fake,” Glick sings. “They stuck white letters on red hats and called it MAGA-roni.” The rest of the song follows this absurdist pattern, with digs at Trump’s appearance and questionable reputation with women:

“Cranky Doodle, you’re so tan, Cranky Doodle Dandy, stop the stealing and lock her up, and with the girls, be tactile”

This isn’t the first time Martin Short has used his platform Jimmy Kimmel Live! to attack Trump. Earlier in the week, he castigated the president for not yet having a vice-presidential candidate on his side. “Donald Trump says he’s close to finding his running mate and he’s narrowed his list down to three people,” he told the audience. “There were four, but then OJ died. »

After the laughter, Short added that Trump would soon have to make his big decision. “What a choice Trump has in his little hands,” he said. Short, however, lifted the lid on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! playbook by making a joke about Trump jokes.

Midway through his monologue on Tuesday, Short wryly commented that Trump’s jokes were part of the show’s core makeup. “The producers say it’s time for my contractual obligations Jimmy Kimmel Live! Trump is joking,” he explained. “It’s apparently a staple here.”

Obligation or not, no one does it like Jiminy Glick.
