Jodie Comer reveals how X Factor’s Cheryl inspired role 28 years later

Jodie Comer has revealed that a former X Factor judge inspired her role in 28 Years Later.

The star, best known for her role as Villanelle in Killing Eve, has been announced alongside Jack O’Connell, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and the return of Cillian Murphy for the film, which follows 28 Days Later and 28 Days. Weeks Later.

As Comer now fully prepares for her role, the star revealed to Elle that she had a unique inspiration for her role, citing former X Factor judge and Girls Aloud member Cheryl as an influence when she was trying to master a dialect.

“I can’t wait to finish the first day. Danny (Boyle) seems like a very confident, intuitive and intelligent director,” she said of the new film. “The original was so popular that I try not to think about it too much. I don’t put too many expectations on myself. »

Comer, who will soon be seen on the big screen in The Bikeriders, previously spoke about the upcoming project, which sees Boyle and writer Alex Garland teaming up for the first installment of a planned trilogy.

“I met Danny (Boyle) and I realized he was incredibly sure of himself, confident and innovative,” he said. “As an actor, it’s such a thrill to be on set with someone like him leading the charge. I remember seeing 28 Days Later and I was struck by how grounded it was in reality.”

“It was more about exploring us as a species and how we behave and how we react. I felt like there was a lot of emotional truth in the film that really grounded it. That’s how I felt when I read this script, too.”

There is no release date for 28 Years Later.
