A video of two MasterChef contestants engaged in a fierce fight has sent the internet into a frenzy.

The clip shows two players from the American version of the popular cooking competition shouting at each other.

And the inappropriate spectacle has led fans of the Australian version to make unflattering comparisons with the American reality show.

“MasterChef US has nothing to do with cooking,” one user posted on Reddit.

They added: “It’s just another vehicle for the drama and nastiness of reality TV shows. »

‘Wow! I haven’t watched anything other than the AU version so this is a complete shock to me,’ another fan said.

“I’m American…” one fan announced in the thread, before criticizing the American iteration of the global reality TV franchise.

“MasterChef US is a complete joke compared to (the Australian version).

“Plus, we only have one episode a week in the US… 1 fucking episode! They spent the first 4 weeks showing auditions of people trying to get on the show.

Viewers were shocked to see the clip, which appears to be from the 2014 season of MasterChef US.

The segments show a fight between contestants Leslie Gilliams, 56, and Ahran Cho, an 18-year-old student.

At one point, Ahran can be seen swearing at Leslie after the stay-at-home dad yells at him during a challenge.

And the unseemly spectacle has led fans of the Australian version (pictured) to make unflattering comparisons to the US show on Reddit.

Leslie can also be seen complaining about Ahran’s criticism of her during a debrief.

“Can I say something or are you going to intervene every time because you’re 18 and this is what you do?” he said.

“Masterchef US encourages this kind of drama,” added another fan.

They continued: “It’s not a kind show, and the best home cooks would definitely stay away. From what I’ve heard from the auditions, the producers choose personalities who are going to compete and encourage certain personalities. Cooking is not the goal at all.

“I’d like them to learn that the world loves MasterChef Australia because it’s a big bowl of comfort that promotes kindness, cooperation and really good food.

“The world is already toxic enough and full of drama. I need my cooking shows to be a warm hug. »

It comes after MasterChef Australia fans were devastated last year when producers decided to remove the cooking show’s theme song, Katy Perry’s Hot N Cold, from the opening credits.

According to fan theories, the singer’s 2008 global hit was scrapped because it was too expensive.

After viewers took to social media to demand the song’s return, Channel 10 finally gave a reason for the removal.

“The opening credits have been removed in season 15 in 2023,” a Channel 10 spokesperson told Pedestrian TV.

“And the decision was made to get into the action more quickly at the start of each episode. »
