Fans in shock after Caitlin Clark makes stunning claim about her Indiana Fever coach Christie Sides

Caitlin Clark left fans in disbelief after revealing what it was like playing under Indiana Fever coach Christie Sides.

Clark, the first overall pick in this year’s WNBA draft, is having a whirlwind rookie season with the Fever after breaking numerous records during her historic college career at Iowa.

Despite being the center of widespread controversy off the court, the 22-year-old is already living up to the hype on the court, leading the way among rookies in points per game with 16.2.

And, remarkably, it seems she’s earning her stripes in the major leagues without much on-field guidance.

Following Indiana’s 89-77 loss to the Seattle Storm on Friday night, Clark was asked what was the best playing advice she had received from a veteran teammate so far this season.

Yet his surprising response exposed Sides to harsh criticism on social media.

“Nobody gives me advice in the game. I wish,” she admitted.

Although the initial question was about Clark’s teammates, fans quickly turned to X to call out Sides and question his influence as a coach.

Someone wrote: “@fever Remind me again…Why is @ChristieSides the head coach again? »

“Sides needs to go,” another user commented.

A third posted: “Oh Christie, count your days.”

A fourth suggestion: “The COACH could do this…”

While one simply said: “Goodbye “Coach” Sides.”

During last Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Sky, a clip of Clark appearing to argue with Sides on the field surfaced on social media.

It was a disappointing night for Indiana after giving up the lead in the final two and a half minutes of the game and failing to regain it, with Angel Reese, Chennedy Carter and Camilla Cardoso inspiring Chicago to victory late in the game.

As the hosts finished strongly at the Wintrust Arena, Clark failed to make an impact in the latter stages of the game after opting to pass to her team-mates on several occasions instead of going for glory herself.

Incredibly, the former college sensation only made two shots in the final seven minutes, despite being one of the greatest shooters in women’s basketball for many years.

Fans were furious at his lack of involvement in the fourth quarter, with some calling Clark to be more “selfish” and others pointing fingers at Sides’ tactics.

And as Sunday’s game drew to a close, the two aforementioned men had what looked like a heated exchange on the court.

Clark could be seen making furious gestures with his right arm while speaking with Sides, before Fever’s coach responded to his complaints.

His player didn’t seem too happy with the response though and instead threw both arms up before sighing to make his frustration known.

One user suggested on social media: “Christie Sides and Caitlin Clark were arguing towards the end of the game.” Clark didn’t like Sides’ game plan.

“This is going to be a problem because Christie Sides got away from the pick & roll, Chicago was having trouble stopping him. Indiana would have won this game.
