EasyJet cancellations: Woman desperate to get home for kidney transplant drugs – World News

Alison Pickett said her easyJet flight from Turkey to Gatwick was canceled – and she now desperately needs to return as she relies on medication for a kidney transplant

An easyJet passenger due to return to the UK for kidney transplant medication has had her easyJet flight cancelled and claimed she was taken to a “disgusting” cockroach-infested hotel in Turkey.

Alison Pickett, from Chatham, Kent, traveled to Bodrum with her husband Ryan to celebrate her 60th birthday. But this “lovely” holiday turned into a nightmare after their easyJet flight to Gatwick was canceled on Thursday evening.

Thousands of people have complained about travel chaos at airports this week, and easyJet customers have contacted the Mirror in droves to share their frustration at how they have been affected by delays and cancellations.

For Alison, the situation is even more serious because she has to go home to take her medication after a kidney transplant. She and her husband now have to fly to Gatwick on Sunday evening, but if there is any further delay she risks running out of medication altogether.

They were told their flight last Thursday had been cancelled due to an air traffic control decision, meaning they would not be entitled to compensation. “It’s a worry for me. I’m responsible for myself, I take into account the days off and I have extra provisions just in case, but time goes on and other people have had other flights cancelled,” Alison told the Mirror.

“We have to fly out tomorrow and if we do, we’ll be fine… but if we don’t, then I’ll be in trouble.” What is really serious is the lack of communication. They must have known the plane was canceled when we checked in with our luggage and only found out about the cancellation once we got to the gate. There was no one to talk to then. »

Alison claimed they were taken to a “disgusting” hotel in an industrial area. She said there was no food available for guests and the only option was a gas station across a busy road, so they ended up leaving and finding another hotel.

The hotel was located in an industrial area which was “seedy”, Alison said

“We were eventually taken to a hotel which was disgusting. The room was disgusting. We didn’t know where we were and we couldn’t get through to EasyJet for any information,” she said.
