Reese Witherspoon ‘sends strength’ to silence breakers

Reese Witherspoon is “sending endless support and strength” to those who shared their stories as part of the Time’s Up movement.
The “Big Little Lies” star, who is a vocal supporter of the movement, thanked the “silence breakers” for “starting an unstoppable movement.”
On Twitter, she wrote: “To the survivors around the world who have spoken out and to those who continue to break their silence… I send you endless support and strength. Thank you for your courage, for starting an unstoppable movement and for courageously sharing your stories #silencebreakers (sic)”
Meanwhile, Reese previously admitted she feels a responsibility to advocate for “voiceless” women around the world.
When asked if she expected to see any major changes in light of the Hollywood sex scandal, Reese – who previously admitted to being molested by a director when she was 16 – said: “I feel a change, completely, a judgment on people who have been silent for so long that they are finally coming forward and speaking out even if their voices tremble, as I know mine did when I told my story. Women leaders in every sector must champion those who are voiceless and silent, and we must do better. It is simply high time to create more balanced cultures with female leadership and leadership with people of color… The majority of women – if they came forward – were stigmatized for speaking out and, in some cases, lost their jobs. There was simply no reason to share your story if the results would be so punitive.
“That’s why I’ve been working really hard on an initiative called Time’s Up with over 400 women in my industry to raise money so that women have better resources to sue for workplace harassment in their own industry. We’re trying to level the playing field for all women and men who have suffered discrimination, harassment and abuse.
