Blake Lively Pairs Denim With More Denim In Early-Moon Inspired Look

Blake Lively brings back early fashion with a Britney Spears-inspired outfit circa 2001.

On Friday, June 28, the actress was spotted enjoying a night out on the town with friends Isabela Ferrer and Hasan Minhaj. While enjoying Greenwich Village, New York, Gossip Girl the star shone in a denim mini dress with a scoop neckline and slim fit, Good morning! reports.

The sky blue denim look was covered in light-reflecting rhinestone embellishments, which only made the actress stand out alongside her friends Ferrer and Minjah.

In a Spears-inspired move that mimicked the pop star’s iconic denim outfit at the 2001 American Music Awards, Lively paired the minidress with an ankle-length blue denim trench coat. The oversized piece, in a medium wash, was slightly darker than the denim mini dress, providing a perfect contrast between the two denim cuts.

To complete the nostalgic fit, Lively wore a Chanel shoulder bag with denim details and gold accents, because clearly there’s no such thing as too much denim.

The denim-on-denim trend was solidified in 2001, when Spears and her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake wore matching head-to-toe denim outfits as they walked the American Music red carpet. Awards.
