A mini-truck transporting 48 calves to the slaughterhouse

Ambala: Police on Saturday said they have arrested four people for allegedly taking 48 calves in a mini-truck to Uttar Pradesh for slaughter.

The four accused are residents of Saharipur district in UP, they said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team stopped a truck at Kalpi flyover near Mullana. The truck was carrying buffaloes, police said.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that they were taking these calves to a slaughterhouse in Uttar Pradesh, they said, adding that a case had been registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act section.
