Borussia Dortmund ready to sell Gio Reyna this summer

Borussia Dortmund ready to sell Gio Reyna this summer

Gio Reyna could leave Borussia Dortmund on a permanent transfer this summer after failing to make an impact during his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.

The last few seasons have not gone as planned for Gio Reyna, and the recently concluded campaign saw him spend a lot of time on the bench. Once considered one of Borussia Dortmund’s most talented young players, the 21-year-old has seen his development stall in recent years. Now, the Black and Yellows are ready to sell Reyna with two years remaining on his current contract.

This is reported by BILD, which adds that Reyna is not considered part of Borussia Dortmund’s plans for the upcoming season.

Reyna has only been on the pitch for a total of 610 minutes in club football this season and notched two assists. The attacking midfielder’s lack of playing time at Borussia Dortmund saw him join Nottingham Forest in January. But he was also unable to make a big impact in England and was limited to just two starts on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Despite his struggles at club level, Reyna remains a key player for the United States. And Reyna and Borussia Dortmund are hoping his strong performances at the Copa America this summer can help him attract interest from other clubs. He has started in both of the USMNT’s group stage games so far.

It remains to be seen what kind of interest Gio Reyna will generate this summer. He said earlier this month that his goal was to play for a club where he can feel valued.
