Youngstown, Ohio community gathers for prayer vigil against violence

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Youngstown community gathered Saturday afternoon for a Stop the Violence community prayer vigil.

The incident occurred in Glenwood Park, near where an 18-year-old woman was recently shot and killed.

Several different churches and community groups participated. A pastor at the event explained what the community needs to do to see change in the face of gun violence.

“It takes sustained effort. You just can’t have an event and expect things to change. We need sustained efforts and people involved in all aspects of the Stop the Violence campaign,” said Pastor Kenneth L. Simon.

He also said that the initiative needed continued support and they would continue to hold events.
