This is the shocking moment a “street takeover” attended by hundreds of people ended in a blazing inferno early Saturday morning in downtown Los Angeles.

The takeover took place before 3 a.m. at the intersection of 18th and Main streets, according to preliminary reports from OnSceneTV.

Two vehicles caught fire in the middle of the intersection, KTLA News reported.

It is not yet known whether the fire was deliberate or whether the vehicles caught fire accidentally, reports the media.

When police arrived, they confirmed that there were at least 50 cars present.

An LAPD spokesperson told KTLA that officers were initially dispatched to the scene due to fireworks being set off.

During the chaotic scene, at least 400 to 500 people blocked access to the street, and reports indicate the takeover may have involved racing vehicles, according to the Citizen mobile app.

The report said police had requested additional units to divert traffic at the scene and ensure public safety, while emergency services worked to contain the fires and manage the crowds.

Police requested two tow trucks to remove the burned and destroyed vehicles, according to Citizen.

The incident was under investigation. As of early Saturday afternoon, it was still unclear whether anyone was hurt or injured.

During the terrifying scene, vehicles were moving near the burning vehicles, with some motorists honking their horns while others drove by as if nothing had happened.

Police reportedly made no arrests, but the two damaged vehicles were impounded.

In March, a street takeover took place in the same area of ​​downtown Los Angeles around 11:30 p.m. at night.

LAPD Central Division patrol units were deployed to the area after receiving multiple reports of the spectacle.

After officers responded to the area, the takeover was broken down without incident within minutes.
