But how fast? The Athletic reported (not specifically about Gordon) that there might be “some wiggle room” in the June 30 deadline, although it’s not huge.

These are accounting rules rather than Premier League regulations. But if an agreement is “signed” before midnight on June 30, it is likely to be accepted as legitimately part of the previous accounting year, even if the formalities take a few days. This happened with Richarlison’s move to Spurs in 2022, announced on July 1.
