David de Gea sends three-word transfer message as ex-Man United player looks to move this summer

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has sent a message to prospective clubs as he continues his efforts to return to professional football.

The 33-year-old has been without a club since being released by the Reds after 12 years between the sticks at Old Trafford. It has been over a year since he last played a competitive game, coming in the 2-1 win over Fulham that secured third place in Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge in the Premier League.

Two-time Golden Glove winner De Gea has frequently posted clips of his intense training sessions as he puts himself on display for his return to senior football. It has been claimed that the Spaniard turned down a lucrative move to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League in November 2023, a move that would have seen him reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo after several high-profile names from the Premier League and Europe made the move to the Middle East.

On social media this week, De Gea has posted a series of clips showing his movements and performances as the prospect of pre-season approaches for football clubs.

The 33-year-old said: “Ready to give it your all”, as the legend goes in a picturesque Spanish football headquarters. However, this is not the first time the goalkeeper has taken to social media to show off his progress as he looks to end his football hiatus, previously training at National League club Altrincham’s stadium .

Last season, De Gea was linked with a move to Premier League side Newcastle United amid the injury crisis between the posts. However, manager Eddie Howe attempted to dispel those rumours, saying: “I’ve seen a lot of headlines in the media about goalkeepers and other players.

“We haven’t done any investigation. If we were recruiting now, we would be recruiting in all areas of the pitch. This is a chance for the other goalkeepers to consolidate their positions.”
