Sleepy Hollow wins third straight Marin Swim League title

The Sleepy Hollow Sea Lions got triple-game winning performances from Zoe Singleton, Hunter Panzica and Elsa Kastner en route to their third straight Marin Swim League title at the championship meet Saturday at Miwok Aquatic Center in Novato.

The Sea Lions finished with 2,342 points, while the Terra Linda Orcas (1,514) and Tidalwaves (1,430) completed the top three. The Strawberry Seals (1,253.5) and Scott Valley Sea Serpents (1,043.5) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, followed by the Marinwood Waterdevils (803), Lucas Valley Lightning (733.5), Swimarin Sharks ( 425) and the Bay Club Rolling Hills Stingrays (401.5). ) and Novato Riptide (177).

Sleepy Hollow was strengthened by having three of the league’s six treble winners on its team. Singleton (girls 11-12), Panzica (boys 11-12) and Kastner (girls 13-14) all won the 50 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 medley races.

Scott Valley produced two doubles winners with Rosie Kovinsky (girls 8 and under; 25 free, 25 fly, 100 IM) and Jack Redemann (boys 9-10; 50 free, 50 fly, 100 IM). The other triple winner was Theodore Nichols of Strawberry (boys 8 and under; 25 back, 25 breast, 100 individual medley).

Strawberry’s Annika Hayes was the top scorer in the girls 15-18 age group, followed by Terra Linda’s Tessa Garvey Miller (55) and Tidalwaves’ Kate DeForrest (reigning MCAL swimmer of the year, 52 points).

The top age group on the boys side was led by Terra Linda’s Jackson Wright (57), Sleepy Hollow’s Nate Greenberg (55) and Terra Linda’s Andrew Chong (53).

Kastner led the way with 60 points in the 13-14 girls division, followed by Strawberry’s Eleanor Hoang (52), Scott Valley’s Kennedy Foster (52) and Sleepy Hollow’s Kathryn Fahy (51).

Terra Linda’s Bo Jordan was the top scorer among 13-14 year old boys with 57, with Tidalwaves’ Jude Fuchs (52) and Sleepy Hollow’s Beau Panzica (50) rounding out the top three.

Singleton topped the 11-12 girls group with 60, followed by Strawberry’s Lucy Yaroshenko (57) and Terra Linda’s Avery Melenkivitz (49). Hunter Panzica’s perfect score of 60 paced the boys 11-12 swimmers, with Sleepy Hollow’s Baxter Dixon (52), Strawberry’s Rory Murphy (52) and Tidalwaves’ Andrew Weisel (51) the other standouts.

Sleepy Hollow teammates Hailey Bennett and Maeve Kastner finished tied with 57 points each to lead the girls by 9-10 swimmers. Inara Thai (51) of Terra Linda and Josephine Fernandez (48) of Tidalwaves were the other top scorers.

The youngest group of girls, at 60, was in the lead, with Tidalwaves’ Emery Keatley (53) and Terra Linda’s Anya Hernandez making up the top three spots.
