Lebanese Prime Minister: “We are in a state of war, Israel must stop attacks”

The interim Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Miqati, He declared the country “in a state of war” and urged Israel to stop the attacks. This was reported by the Lebanese news agency “Nna”, explaining that Miqati made the call yesterday during a visit to the Lebanese Armed Forces headquarters at the Benedict Barakat barracks in the southern city of Tyre. The prime minister said: “We are always in favor of peace and our choice is peace and the implementation of resolution 1701 (which helped end the 34-day war between Israel and Lebanon in 2006). Israel must stop its repeated attacks on Lebanon and end the war in Gaza, and everyone must implement international resolution 2735 (adopted in early June by the United Nations Security Council to support a ceasefire plan in the Strip).”

During his visit to the headquarters, Miqati reiterated that the armed forces are “the pillar and barrier of the country,” stressing: “The threats we are witnessing are a kind of psychological warfare.” The prime minister also confirmed: “We are in a state of war and there are a large number of martyrs, civilians and others, and many villages have been destroyed due to the Israeli aggression.”
