Leeds United are still waiting for a decision from the star they offered a new contract to

Leeds United are still waiting to hear from a player who has been offered a new contract, despite claims he is set to join another club, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Los Blancos announced their shortlist earlier this month, with Daniel Farke’s side confirming new deals had been offered to defender Liam Cooper and midfielder Jamie Shackleton.

Neither club has yet signed the offers that are on Leeds’ table so far.

Shackleton is reportedly close to completing a free transfer to Sheffield United, but Leeds have not heard from the midfielder regarding his intentions.

The Whites remain firmly in the dark as to whether Shackleton will accept or reject their offer of a new deal to stay at Elland Road.

The midfielder came through the Leeds academy and the club are the only team he has featured in as a permanent player; he went on loan to Millwall during the 2022/23 campaign.

Shackleton now appears set to leave Leeds to continue his career.

And if the 24-year-old joins Sheffield United, he will face Leeds in the Championship next season.
