Some Cook Strait ferry services are cancelled due to forecasted poor weather.

Swells of between four and six metres are expected between Tuesday evening and Thursday morning.

All Interislander ferry services are now canceled from 8:30 p.m. Tuesday until 8:45 a.m. Thursday.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority,” Interislander said on its website.

“We do not expect Kaitaki to return to service before the 8:45 a.m. departure on Thursday, July 4, unless there is a significant improvement in the weather.”

All crossings have been to Kaitaki – as the Aratere is already out of service after running aground shortly after leaving Picton last month.

The passengers concerned are contacted directly.

Meanwhile, Bluebridge ferries are still operating.

The company says it is monitoring forecasts and will notify customers via text and email if sailings are canceled.
