Rain didn’t stop the Florida Panthers’ parade in Miami, will the Canes have one next?

Rain didn’t stop the Florida Panthers’ parade in Miami, will the Canes have one next?

The Florida Panthers won their first ever Stanley Cup after a come-from-behind victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

The Panthers’ victory parade took place through the streets of Miami-Dade County despite less than ideal conditions, as rain poured down and filled the Cup.

As the local NHL team celebrated their championship trophy and all it took to get there, other Miami fans began to wonder when their next title would come…

The ACC is growing and the Miami Hurricanes are working hard to stay in contention for an NCAA championship this season. So do the Canes have programs that could offer a chance at a new ring and a subsequent parade?

Mario Cristobal has signed players that have exceeded many analysts’ expectations. Despite struggling in his first two seasons with the Canes, head coach Cristobal has brought in a top-four 2024 class, according to 247Sports.

With Cal, SMU and Stanford joining the ACC, does Miami have a chance at a conference title and a College Football Playoff berth?

Now that the CFP has expanded to 12 teams, the Hurricanes’ chances of winning a national title have tripled — but so have everyone else in the country.

Cristobal’s recruiting prowess has also boosted the Canes’ chances of making the playoffs, as has his work in the transfer portal, including bringing in former Washington State quarterback , Cam Ward.

The biggest competition in conference for the Canes comes from the Florida State Seminoles and the Clemson Tigers. If Miami can defeat both ACC foes and win the conference championship, the Hurricanes will automatically earn a bid to the CFP.

Miami isn’t expected to be one of the best in the country, but a chance means everything and if the Canes can make a run at the playoffs, never say never.

Despite Jim Larrañaga’s coaching dominance since taking over the Hurricanes men’s basketball team, one could argue that the Miami women’s basketball team has a better chance of win the national title in the 2024-25 season.

Hanna and Haley Cavinder

The women’s team has star guards Hanna and Haley Cavinder leading the pack, and as the Power Four conferences shuffle, the Canes might be able to shock the world by making their way through the NCAA Tournament.

Larrañaga has only led the Canes to one Final Four appearance, the first in program history, and most analysts (and even fans) don’t expect there to be a repeat this season.

Beyond the big three, Miami has no shortage of powerhouse programs.

The Hurricanes baseball team has had an incredible recruiting period during the playoffs and the 2024 offseason.

The Miami softball team has stiff competition from rivals Clemson and new conference foe Stanford, but it could have a chance to make an impressive playoff run.

The Miami volleyball team has often fallen short of the national title, but it’s never automatically out of the running.

The moral of the story is that Miami could win a national championship in 2024 or 2025. The Hurricanes have contenders in all areas and Canes fans may well have their parade, but hopefully not in the rain.
