Rai Benjamin wins 400m hurdles in world best time, Nikki Hiltz sets 1500m competition record

Grant Fisher wins 5000m in addition to 10km

Grant Fisher opens the Trials with a victory… and ends them the same way.

On the opening night of the U.S. Trials (June 21), Fisher won the 10,000m… repeating the same feat on Sunday with a triumph in the 5,000m, where he set a new meet record in 13 : 08.85.

Fisher is returning to his second Olympics, once again with the chance to compete in both events.

Fisher holds off defending 5,000m champion Abdihamid Nur in a dramatic sprint down the final stretch, with Nur finishing a fraction behind Fisher in 13:09.01.

The race for third place, featured Parker Wolfe And Graham Blanks in the fight, with Wolfe taking the lead to finish with a personal best of 13.10.75.

A busy last day in the field

The Men’s Hammer Throwing Saw Daniel Haugh outperform the field to win gold. Haugh was pleased with his 79.51 metres (26 feet 10 inches) on his third attempt.

Rudy Winkler (78.89) and Justin Stafford (77.07) went two-three. Winkler has the Olympic standard, but Stafford will have to wait and see if he goes to Paris.

In the men’s high jump final, Shelby McEwen ran 2.30 m (7 feet, 6 inches) for victory and a berth in her second Olympics. The next two finishers, Caleb Snowden And Tyus Wilsondo not have Olympic level, but JuVaughn Harrison, who finished fourth after failing to clear 2.24m, did so. Harrison won a silver medal in Budapest at the Worlds last year.
