MasterChef fans shocked by ‘horrible’ video of contestants fighting

MasterChef Australia Fans were shocked after seeing a video of the totally different American version of the series. MasterChef Australia is known as the ‘cool’ reality TV show that people love to watch because there’s very little drama (and it’s one of the few shows on Australian screens that has real diversity, so that’s another win!).

“Has anyone here watched a version other than the AU?” I just saw this clip on TikTok and I can’t even imagine the Australian contestants acting even remotely like that on TV 💀,” one Reddit user wrote, sharing a video of a fight between two candidates in the American version.

In the video, Ahran Cho and Leslie Gilliams get into an argument while working together on a team challenge.

Things get off to a bad start between the two when Leslie mispronounces Ahran’s name as “Iran”, and they later start yelling at each other over a misunderstanding in the kitchen.

“Leslie, you need to stop yelling, okay?” she told him. “You’re not helping our team at all right now!”

“You’re wasting a lot of time,” he told her.

“You have no communication skills,” she told him later.

“Can I say something, or are you going to intervene every time because you’re 18 and that’s what you do?” » replies Leslie. “You can disrespect me as much as you want, okay? Because that’s what teenagers do. OK, so grow up and get some balls! »

“Leslie! You’re 56, she’s 18, don’t compare yourself to her!” another competitor shouts at her.

Leslie then offers a sarcastic apology, to which Ahran responds, “You’re not sorry at all!”

Although the pair clearly did not get along during this time, they quickly bonded after Leslie became friendlier with the group and would later share a bond similar to that of a father and daughter.

Other Reddit users shared their surprise at the clip, with one user writing: “WOW! I haven’t watched anything other than the AU version so this is a complete shock to me.”

“(I) will never watch American Chef again, because these producers love to amp up the drama,” wrote another.

“OMG 😳 I think I always just watched MasterChef AU and I was completely oblivious to the others Chef “The shows,” said a third.

“This is horrible,” someone else added. “I’ve seen the Brazilian version, which has a lot of problems and drama, but nothing like this. »

MasterChef USA “It has nothing to do with cooking,” said another. “It’s just another vehicle for the drama and nastiness of reality TV shows.”

“I started with Masterchef USA before discovering AU. What a difference between night and day,” said one Reddit user. “They are so loud, so trashy, mean, disrespectful. Basically every man for himself (I should have managed my expectations, it’s us after all). And the sob stories, SO MUCH, ALL THE TIME. Everyone has one in detail.”

Masterchef United States encourages this kind of drama. It’s not a friendly show, and the best home cooks would definitely stay away,” someone else shared. “From what I’ve heard at auditions, the producers choose personalities who will clash and encourage certain personalities. Cooking is not the priority at all. »

They went on to say that the series is like “pure poison,” adding, “I wish they would learn that the world loves MasterChef Australia because it’s a big bowl of comfort that promotes kindness, cooperation and really good food.

“The world has enough toxicity and drama. I need my cooking shows to be a warm hug.”

This isn’t the first time Redditors have praised the Australian version, recently in a thread about the quality of the series one user said: “I remember a pressure test of “a FINALE episode where a contestant was having trouble operating some sort of kitchen utensil another contestant literally left their bench and went to show them what to do. I think that’s really cool.”

“Yes, and that’s what makes it glorious. I’m American and I come here specifically to escape American cooking competitions!” shared another fan. “I work at a college. There’s enough rudeness and incivility in my daily life! I watch Chef UK and Aus to restore my faith in humanity. I am also Canadian and, unsurprisingly, Canadian Chef split the difference between the two.”
