I am extremely proud to be a social worker.

After 18 years working in children’s services, I left and started my own business supporting other social workers through coaching, leadership training and development.

This year when Social Work Week rolled around, I didn’t have a department to celebrate with as I was working alone. Instead, I felt like I wanted to acknowledge all the social workers who work tirelessly to help others.

It was my little way of acknowledging them and making them feel seen.

Celebrate those who inspired you

For our 50th anniversary, we’re expanding our My Brilliant Colleague series to include anyone who has inspired you in your career – whether they’re current or former colleagues, managers, students, professors, mentors or industry luminaries, past or present, whom you’ve admired from afar.

Nominate your social work colleague or inspiration by:

  • Complete our nomination form with a letter or a few paragraphs (100-250 words) explaining how and why the person inspired you.
  • Or by sending a voice note of up to 90 seconds to +447887865218, including your name and that of the candidate, as well as your roles.

If you have any questions, please email our Community Reporter, Anastasia Koutsounia, at [email protected]
