A shocking video has surfaced online which shows an attacker walking around west London ripping off Muslim women’s headscarves.

On Saturday, footage of an off-camera videographer targeting Muslim women as they walked in Kensington was shared online.

The user who allegedly posted the video, named Bahar Mahroo, wrote: “Just like you take away democracy from us in Iran and force us to wear headscarves, since we have democracy in this country, we will take away those same headscarves from you.”

Mahroo denied any involvement in the attacks and said she was just sharing the videos. The Instagram account where the video was located was not available this morning.

Another user who shared the video compilation called on the Met Police to take action.

They wrote: “Hello @metpolice_uk, Islamophobe removes hijab from Muslim women in London.”

The footage shows two different incidents where the videographer followed Muslim women before removing their headscarves, leaving them visibly shocked.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “There is no place for this kind of behaviour in London.

“We are in contact with one of the victims and an investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances and address any possible offences.

“Anyone who witnessed an incident of this type is asked to call police on 101 or post @MetCC, ref 3273/29jun”

The move comes as Iranians go to the polls to elect a new president after the death of late President Ebrahim Raisi in a plane crash.

Millions of people went to the polls in Iran on Friday, but the elections were branded a “sham” by many and led to huge protests calling for regime change across Europe.
