Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 open beta cancelled

The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Open Beta has been canceled.

Developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment confirmed the cancellation of the public test in an update on Steam.

They claimed that launching the beta as originally planned would have been a distraction for the game’s developers as they prepare for Space Marine 2’s delayed release in September.

“Space Marine 2 is almost ready,” they wrote. “We are now fully focused on optimizing, polishing, and fixing any remaining issues before launch on September 9th.”

“This means we will not be launching a public beta online, as this would prevent the development teams from preparing for the full launch, and our priority is to ensure the best possible experience upon release.

“We know this news is disappointing to some of you. As a thank you to those interested in participating, players who signed up via online registration before midnight PDT on June 28, 2024 will receive the limited edition Bolt Pistol skin below.

The sequel to 2011 hack-and-slash game Space Marine was revealed at The Game Awards in 2021 and was once planned for release in 2023 before a delay.
