In scenes not yet aired in the UK, Lauren learned during an engagement ceremony that Jono had messaged Ellie privately. Lauren told the Daily Mail that the situation initially brought back painful past memories.

“It just brought back memories of things that had happened in the past, so I was very emotional about that,” she recalls. “What alarmed me the most was that I was not mentioned even once (in the messages). »

Lauren also admitted that she didn’t think she and Jono would have lasted as a couple regardless, saying: “I don’t think things would have been better if it hadn’t come out, because we were talking about a couple of weekends that we had, and it had been consistently good for us, and that’s just not going to last in the real world.”

Despite the shock of the development, Lauren said she felt happy for Jono and Ellie, acknowledging that they were far more compatible than the matches provided by the experts during the experiment.

“I couldn’t be happier for Jono. He and I were forced to be together, we didn’t choose each other and we gave it everything we had,” she said.

“I honestly couldn’t be happier that they found love, because Jono and I weren’t in love.

“It was tough because we would have a really good week, a really crappy week, and that would take us to the first point,” she added.

“(But) we didn’t have that (connection) and they’re great together. I couldn’t (cheer for them) harder, to be honest.”
