Ranvir Singh Breaks Silence After Giovanni Pernice’s ‘Resignation’ Amid Backlash

Ranvir Singh has finally spoken out as his former dance partner Giovanni Pernice reportedly ‘quit’ Strictly Come Dancing. The 33-year-old Italian dancer finds himself in the eye of the storm after it was revealed on Thursday that he had dramatically left the BBC One show after almost a decade as a professional dancer.

The announcement comes after allegations of tension with her celebrity partners. Speculation began when Amanda Abbington abruptly pulled out of Strictly last year, later confirming she quit due to stress and even revealing she had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder following her time with Giovanni.

Although Giovanni has denied any allegations of misconduct, it is understood that Amanda had an emotional meeting with two of Giovanni’s former Strictly contestants – Laura Whitmore and Ranvir Singh – to discuss their “difficult experiences” with him. According to The Sun, Giovanni has now left Strictly amid criticism over his “intense training methods”, with his name notably missing from an internal memo circulating the BBC.

The Italian dancing champion was criticised for his strict training regime during his time on the hit show, and after being paired with Giovanni in the 2020 series, Ranvir admitted she was terrified of the performer. “Don’t let his angelic face fool you! He’s a fiery, super strict Italian – I’m a bit scared of him,” she said on Good Morning Britain.

Since then, she has remained silent about her former professional dance partner and, as the allegations against Giovanni mounted, Ranvir finally broke her silence, the Mirror reports.

Sharing a post on her Instagram Stories, the ITV presenter promoted an online yoga and relaxation session, refusing to get drawn into speculation surrounding Giovanni’s alleged departure from the TV show. BBC. The presenter wasn’t the only one to have issues with the Italian dancer, as Laura Whitmore also expressed concerns about training with Giovanni following his stint on the show in 2016.

“I’m still not ready to talk in depth about my experience on the show,” Amanda Abbington revealed on the Private Parts podcast in 2020, detailing her discomfort with her dance partner. “I was placed with a dance partner who I was extremely uncomfortable with and in the end I felt broken. I cried every day. And I was truly broken, both mentally and physically, by the end. »

She expressed frustration at being isolated with Giovanni for long periods of time, including during red carpet events and training sessions.

“What I didn’t like was being away from everyone and having to spend 12 hours a day with one person,” she said, visibly agitated.

Amanda has been at the heart of the controversy surrounding Giovanni Pernice and earlier this year she asked BBC executives for footage of rehearsals, fueling speculation about possible legal action against the Italian dancer. His premature departure from the show after just five weeks only intensified rumors about Giovanni’s coaching style.
