Ashanti Shocked By Husband Nelly’s Surprise Baby Shower As She Shows Off Baby Bump: ‘I Thought I Was Coming To A Photo Shoot’

Nelly showered his wife Ashanti with love over the weekend with the help of family and friends.

The couple, who married in secret and are expecting their first baby together, enjoyed a surprise baby shower this weekend with Nelly orchestrating the whole thing.

The video from publicist Juliette Harris shows the couple arriving at the Dolce and Gabbana baby boutique in New York City to do some shopping.

Instead, they were greeted by their guests holding cell phones, ready to capture the moment they exited the elevator as Ashanti gasped in disbelief.

“Nelly threw Ashanti a surprise baby shower! She was so surprised and looked amazing!’ » the publicist wrote alongside a video of the surprise moment on social media.

“My friends and family were there with @fatjoe @breland,” she wrote, calling Nelly and Ashanti “the cutest couple in Eva!!”

In a video shared on Instagram, Ashanti revealed the ploy her husband used to get her to the party.

“I thought I was coming for a photo shoot,” the mother-to-be told her guests.

“I’m shocked,” she said, adding, “thank you guys so much. I love you guys,” and turning to Nelly, she said, “thank you baby,” during which the Hot in Herre artist gave her a kiss on the cheek.

When the Air Force Ones singer got his turn at the mic, he thanked his co-conspirators on his team and Ashtanti’s for helping him put it all together.

Photos from the show show Ashanti, 43, proudly showing off her baby bump in a yellow, gold and white ensemble inspired by an Indian lehenga.

The Only U singer glowed under her natural makeup.

Her long hair was styled into several braids and pulled into a ponytail.

Nelly, 49, kept her look low-key, wearing a black golf shirt and pants with black and white sneakers.

The couple posed for photos with friends during the party, including one with Fat Joe and his wife, Lorena Cartagena.

The Billboard Latin Music Award winner looked dapper in a gray, black and white shirt with vintage car motifs. He paired it with black pants and white shoes.

Lorena showed off her curves in a pink jumpsuit with an underwater theme.

Her long blonde hair was styled in a bun with side-parted bangs and she highlighted her shapely legs with a pair of pink high heels.

The decoration around the store includes dozens of yellow and white balloons as well as adorable children’s clothes hanging on the walls.

The couple announced they were expecting a child in an Essence article published on April 17.

Nelly, born Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., is already a seasoned father. He shares Chanelle, 30, and Cornell Iral Haynes III, known as “Tre”, with ex-partner Channetta Valentine.

He adopted Shawn and Sydney Thomas, both young adults in their 20s, after their mother, Nelly’s sister, died of leukemia in 2005.
