Volleyball Announces 2024 Schedule – Bowie State University Athletics

BOWIE, MD — As excitement builds for the upcoming season, Bowie State women’s volleyball head coach Edric Poitier announced the 2024 calendar on Monday.

The Bulldogs’ 30-game schedule includes 13 non-conference games and two tournaments hosted by Shepherd and Charleston (WV).

Fans will get a glimpse of the Bulldogs’ team on the field on Sept. 3, when Bowie State hosts an intrasquad game inside AC Jordan Arena for its final tuneup before the start of the season.

BSU will open the 2024 slate in the Shepherd Tournament on Sept. 6-7, with the Bulldogs facing the Rams and Mars Hill (Sept. 6), followed by games with Edinboro and Glenville State on day two (Sept. 7).

The Bulldogs will remain on the road for a game against neighboring HBCU Morgan State on Sept. 10 before their home opener against Goldey-Beacom on Sept. 13.

Before BSU travels to West Virginia to compete in the Charleston Tournament, the Bulldogs will travel to Washington Adventist on Sept. 15. The Charleston Tournament will feature four games for Bowie State on Sept. 20-21 inside the H. Bernard Wehrle Senior Athletic Arena.

Bowie State will open conference play on Sept. 26 with a home game against Virginia State, then will stay home for a game against Elizabeth City State on Sept. 30. The Bulldogs will host Notre Dame (Md.) on Oct. 3 for a non-conference game at AC Jordan Arena.

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) opener will take place Oct. 5-6 in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Bulldogs will compete in four interdivisional games against members of the South Division.

After the CIAA roundup, the Bulldogs return home to host division foe Virginia Union on Oct. 10 and Lincoln (Pa.) on Oct. 21. BSU will travel to West Virginia to visit Bluefield State on Oct. 14.

Following the CIAA final on Oct. 26-27 in Petersburg, Va., Bowie State will host Millersville in its non-conference finale on Oct. 29 inside AC Jordan Arena.

On Oct. 31, BSU will travel to Richmond, Va., to take on Virginia Union, then return home to open November with a home game against B-State’s Big Blue on Nov. 4. The Bulldogs will conclude the regular season with a pair of road games at Lincoln (Pa.) on Nov. 7 and at Virginia State (Nov. 14).

The CIAA quarterfinals will be played Nov. 19 at the top-ranked schools while Bowie State will host the CIAA Women’s Volleyball Championship semifinal and championship game Nov. 22-23 inside AC Jordan Arena.
