Democrats Consider Nominating Biden Earlier Than Expected: Shock Report

Bloomberg reported Monday that the Democratic National Committee is seeking to formally renominate the president Joe Biden as early as mid-July in order to “put an end to rumors within the party about his replacement following his poor performance in last week’s debate.”

The report of Mario Parker And Gregory Korte He noted that while the Democratic Party convention is not scheduled to begin until August 19, there were moves to nominate Biden earlier to ensure he was on the ballot in Ohio, which had moved up its deadline to August 7. Ohio has since pushed back the deadline.

However, the party has largely resolved that issue and is now considering July 21 as Biden’s nomination date, which would be done virtually.

Bloomberg reported that Democrats were considering “helping quell talk of a potential replacement or open convention after Biden’s cataclysmic debate against the former president.” Donald Trump.

Biden’s lackluster performance last Thursday prompted calls from some prominent Democrats for him to suspend his campaign in favor of passing the torch to someone else.” Bloomberg also added

that the early nomination could erode Trump’s lead at the convention:

The July 21 date would come 10 days after Trump was convicted in Manhattan of trying to conceal payments for money to cover up an alleged affair with an adult film star before the 2016 election. And it would come just three days after Trump is scheduled to accept his party’s nomination at the Republican convention in Milwaukee. The DNC has already changed its rules to allow for changes to the convention dates and voting procedures, including a possible roll-call vote “before delegates have met in person in Chicago.”
