Umerov, Austin to meet at Pentagon on July 2

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will hold a meeting at the Pentagon on Tuesday, July 2, to discuss cooperation, strengthening partnership, as well as regional security issues.

Pentagon deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh made the statement during a briefing on Monday, July 1, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov will travel to the Pentagon tomorrow to meet with Secretary of State Austin. This visit underscores the United States’ continued commitment to supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and security,” she said.

She added that the sides would discuss bilateral defense cooperation, regional security issues and ways to strengthen the U.S.-Ukraine defense partnership.
