Chaos on commuter lines as broken down train causes delays and cancellations on Stirling to Perth routes

Passengers have been advised to expect delays, changes or cancellations to train services between Stirling and Perth due to a train failure.

ScotRail has confirmed that a train broke down between Dunblane and Gleneagles at around 7am on Tuesday.

The rail carrier said services between Stirling and Perth are subject to “delays, changes or cancellations”.

They added that customers can travel via Perth and Edinburgh, but warned this would add “significant” journey time.

ScotRail said they had introduced a ticket acceptance system with City Link buses between Perth and Stirling.

At 8am, the rail operator confirmed that the faulty train was running again and services would begin to return to normal, but there could still be some changes to services.

ScotRail has been contacted for comment.
