Joshua Kimmich is set to leave Bayern Munich, according to a report, but will he?

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (captured by @iMiaSanMia), Germany international Joshua Kimmich is ready to leave Bayern Munich if no deal can be reached.

Currently, Kimmich is busy with the EURO 2024 competition and, as he is representing himself, he is not able to devote time to working on a new contract with the Bavarians. If no agreement is reached in the coming weeks after the EURO, Kimmich could start considering a career in the Premier League or elsewhere, according to Romano:

Joshua Kimmich is willing to consider a transfer away from Bayern if no agreement is reached. The Premier League could be a destination for him. Many clubs have him on their list. If he decides to leave Bayern, it is a real possibility.

There are variables in this situation, including:

  1. The aforementioned contract extension negotiations.
  2. Where does new coach Vincent Kompany plan to use Kimmich (if at all)?
  3. Kimmich’s preference is to play in central midfield or right back.
  4. How much does Bayern Munich want to cut players’ salaries?
  5. The market for a player like Kimmich.

While Romano points out that Kimmich could leave, there is no guarantee that he will It is certain that once the EURO is over, Kimmich will take a break and then dive headlong into preparations for next season, which will include several key discussions with Bayern Munich over his future.

Kimmich’s contract expires in 2025, meaning he could sit on the bench for a year and determine his own future next summer by leaving Bavaria for free. Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC and Paris Saint-Germain are all said to be interested in the 29-year-old.
