“Let’s get back to competition!” Texas A&M Aggies outfielder Hayden Schott announces his return

The Texas A&M Aggies are already starting to see the benefits of hiring former hitting coach Michael Earley as the team’s new head coach.

Following former coach Jim Schlossnagle’s defection to the Texas Longhorns last week, several Aggies have entered the NCAA transfer portal, including standouts Gavin Graohvac, Jace LaViolette, Ali Camarillo and Hayden Schott, among others.

However, after Earley’s hiring, the consensus was that the Aggies would have a good chance of retaining most of that talent.

And over the past 24 hours, that’s exactly what’s started to happen, with outfielder and slugger Hayden Schott becoming the latest to announce his return to Aggieland.

“Alright, alright, alright… LET’S GO BACK. @earleybaseball to the MOON,” Schott said in a post on X.

Obviously, this is big news for the Aggies in more ways than one.

The Columbia graduate transfer had a breakout season, batting .335 with eight home runs and 63 RBIs. He also played a big role in the Aggies’ offensive prowess in the NCAA Tournament, with his four hits in Game 2 of the Super Regional against the Oregon Ducks providing more than enough support for the Aggies to continue their hunt in Omaha.

However, it also helps set the tone for the program and build momentum, which could lead to the return of other big names as well.

Camarillo got that momentum going by announcing his intention to return Sunday. Schott, who will use his final year of eligibility thanks to the COVID year, was next.

And hopefully for the Aggies, more will follow soon.
