“I’m really looking forward to going now. I think it’s a fantastic opportunity and it’s nice to be recognised. I’ve done a lot of charity work over the years so to be invited is a wonderful moment. It really is a once in a lifetime experience.”

“My mother died of cancer many years ago, but she would have been very proud of me. She would have loved to go, she was a big fan of the Royal Family.”

Along with a group of others, Eddie will be attending the garden party on Friday, May 17. Although a dress code and protocol were sent with the invitation, Eddie asked if he could attend as his alter ego, CeCe Monsoon.

Eddie began his career as a drag queen after going on vacation and getting more than he bargained for. He was heading to Gran Canaria, a popular place for LGBTQ+ communityto meet up with old friends he hadn’t seen for a while.

At the time, the 48-year-old was known for his vocal abilities and for entertaining the crowd. One of Eddie’s friends mentioned that he had a work-related issue that needed to be resolved quickly. Eddie agreed to help him solve this problem without realizing that it would trigger a change in his career path.

The singer told the ECHO: “I was on vacation and a friend of mine, who ran a bar, was short of a drag queen for one of the evenings. In less than an hour I was seated, full-faced and ready to go on stage.

“The rest is history from there.” The second I arrived in the UK I continued with the drag persona and it just went from strength to strength.

Eddie was performing on cruises and throughout Europe under the name CeCe Monsoon when the COVID 19 The pandemic hit, locking down the world and consequently the entertainment industry.

With restrictions in place, Eddie took a break and temporarily hung up his heels.

After travelling the country for the past 30 years as a singer and drag performer, Eddie was inspired to get busy and retrain as a carer looking after people with severe brain injuries and dementia.

Fast forward to 2024, and the former University of Central Lancashire student has decided to bring CeCe out of retirement as he returns to his “dream” career.
