The Most Brutal, Shocking and Gross Moments from HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Season 2

House of the Dragon the second season is finally here and the tension is boiling over between the Blacks and the Greens. The first episode shows a remorseful Queen Alicent realizing that she set the stage for violence to engulf her entire family. On the other side is (THE RIGHTEOUS QUEEN) Rhaenyra, who mourns the loss of her son Lucerys and only utters four words in the entire episode: “I want Aemond Targaryen.” » I know it’s true, sis. This season is in full swing and, if the first season is any indication, House of the Dragon will offer many shocking, crude, brutal and bloody moments.

Episode 1 – “A Son for a Son”

Queen Alicent and Criston Cole are a thing now

In terms of Game Of Thrones universe, this episode was actually pretty tame. The first shocking (well, kind of mildly surprising) moment was the oral sex scene between Alicent and Ser Criston Cole. (We all hate him, don’t we? Don’t we?!) I felt like there were some hints that they might get together, especially considering how soon point he’S STILL salty over Rhaenyra’s rejection of his proposal years ago. But there was nothing to suggest until now that their relationship had become sexual.

It’s even more shocking for poor Helaena to stumble upon her mother after witnessing the brutal murder of her child.

The Murder of Jaehaerys Targaryen by Blood and Cheese

Speaking of which, Jaehaerys Targaryen’s death is divisive among viewers, but it’s certainly a shocking moment. Helaena has to watch as her little boy’s head is slowly sawed off and collected by Blood and Cheese. She then runs out of the room and alerts Alicent of the death. This is of course not the first time a child has died in this universe. But this level of brutality on a very small and innocent person is shocking. Daemon really wreaked havoc!

Episode 2 – “Rhaenyra the Cruel”

Otto’s plan to use Jaehaerys’ death to 1) frame Rhaenyra and 2) garner support/sympathy from the subjects of the realm was disgusting. It was incredibly shocking to see his little body (with his head sewn back on) as the carriage drove through the streets. It only proves that there are people on both sides willing to do anything to win this ongoing battle.

The hanging of the ratcatchers

What a terrible time to be a rat catcher in King’s Landing. Aegon acts in rage after Blood tells him that his accomplice is a rat catcher and orders that they all be hanged and displayed in the streets. Cheese is one of them, but this decision also turns many people away from the royal family’s realm.

Ser Criston Cole becomes Aegon’s Hand

Otto rightly calls Aegon out on his heinous actions. Aegon responds that he will not be seen as weak and dismisses his own grandfather as his Hand. He appoints Criston Cole, which only gives the latter more power to continue his plan to hurt Rhaenyra in any way possible. We bet Aegon wouldn’t be so thrilled if he knew Criston was sleeping with his mother…

Ser Criston Cole decides to feel less guilty about his actions by sentencing Arryk to death. He sends him to Dragonstone to kill Rhaenyra, knowing that it won’t end well no matter what. Arryk and Erryk fight in Rhaenyra’s chambers. Their fight ends with Arryk killing Erryk before he stabs himself with his sword. What a horrible ending, indeed.

Episode 3 – “The Windmill on Fire”

The massacre of ferns and black woods

The beginning of episode three shows us a simmering tension between two warring collectives who have also chosen sides in the Black vs. Green struggle. A dispute over border markers leads to a full-on massacre where everyone dies. Yeah.

Aegon embarrasses Aemond

Aegon visits Aemond’s familiar haunt to taunt his brother, who spends time confiding in a sex worker. Aemond has nothing to be ashamed of considering his encounters with her to be consensual (unlike Aegon’s horrific sexual assaults on staff), but his brother certainly makes him feel like an inferior (and quietly angry) man because that he has a penchant for this specific. women. Aemond leaves as Aegon offers his squire to the woman. Terrible.

Daemon’s vision of Rhaenyra and Jaehaerys

Daemon goes on his own adventure to Harrenhal. He stays there after “conquering” it but has trouble relaxing. Daemon believes someone is at his door to attack him and he goes outside to see a vision of a young Rhaenyra telling him he must clean up her mess as she comes and goes. He sees her sewing Jaehaerys’ head back together and watches in horror before snapping back to reality… or so he thought. He receives an omen that he will die where he is. Hmmm.

Rhaenyra returns to King’s Landing to confront (a very stubborn) Alicent

Rhaenyra makes one last effort to stop the war. With the help of Mysaria, she disguises herself and arrives in Alicent. She tells him that war is not necessary and they even get some clarification on what Viserys actually meant on his deathbed. Alicent nevertheless claims that her son being king is not a mistake and she refuses to help make things right in any way. Sigh.

We can’t wait to see what other shocking, gory and gross moments happen in The Dragon House season two.
