Caught on camera: Tornado flips car across six lanes of traffic in Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman working at a Jacksonville car dealership had a front-row seat to see a tornado pick up a pickup truck and throw it into traffic Saturday.

Ellen Mitchell of DriveLine LLC told Storyful she started recording videos after a tornado blew out a transformer on the power pole across from her office. Take a look at the rotating funnel of dust and debris.

The exterior camera on the roof of the building had an even better view.

Flags are held high in the strong wind, but traffic doesn’t seem to stop. The tornado comes from behind and completely flips the truck onto Beach Boulevard and across three lanes of traffic. But the EF-1 doesn’t stop there. It flips the car again and sends it rolling across the street.

Eventually, the oncoming traffic stops. You can see that another truck was forced to back up and go around the truck on the side.

The dealership, however, accepted the returned car without batting an eyelid. Later that day, it posted the message “tornado sale” on social media.
