Amanda Staveley sends strong message to Newcastle United fans after ‘resignation’ rumours

Amanda Staveley has committed her future to Newcastle United and insisted she has no intention of leaving her role – assuring supporters she is here to stay.

The Ripon financier has been on a club mission to Saudi Arabia but is expected to be back in the directors’ box for next week’s Premier League game at Crystal Palace. As Chronicle Live reported earlier this week, the “resignations” referred to in the Companies House documents were merely corporate formalities and Staveley and co-director Jamie Reuben remain fully committed to the black and white cause.

Staveley said on Instagram: “I have just returned from Saudi Arabia and have noticed a lot of messages from fans concerned that I have resigned as Newcastle United manager. That is not the case – the changes made last week were purely administrative, affecting non-commercial subsidiaries.

“After the buyout, Jamie and I became directors of all the companies until we could build a management team. We remain on the top co and board.

“I would like to thank everyone for their incredible support over the past few years, and especially the people who take the time to share their thoughts. We have the best fans in the world and I am privileged and proud to be a part of your community.”

The confusion that arose earlier this week came about because Newcastle United Football Club Limited is a dormant company and according to Newcastle United Football Company Limited documents, Staveley and Reuben remain active. Staveley has resigned from several other Newcastle United companies and this comes after he saw his initial 10% stake in the club diluted to 6% earlier this year following a cash injection from other investors.

Other clubs Staveley has resigned from, according to Companies House records, include Newcastle United Group Limited, Newcastle United Television Limited, St James’ Park Limited, Newcastle United Promotions Limited and NUFC Limited.
