At approximately 12:14 a.m. Monday, Turlock Police Officer Rocha conducted a traffic stop at Lander Avenue and Angelus Street.

Rocha made contact with the driver of the vehicle and identified him as Robert Mendoza, 42, of Modesto.

When Rocha asked his dispatcher to go to Mendoza, he discovered he had a local arrest warrant for $100,500 for three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or person addicted to a narcotic and one count of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.

Officer Conrad then arrived to assist and sniffed the vehicle with his canine companion Bjorn, but Bjorn did not raise the alarm. A subsequent inventory confirmed that there was no contraband in the vehicle.

Mendoza was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on his warrant.
