DIY SOS star Nick Knowles slams trolls for ‘disturbing’ comments about his girlfriend

Nick Knowles has hit out at trolls for their “disturbing and unfair” remarks about his girlfriend.

The ‘DIY: SOS’ presenter – who has fronted the BBC show since 1999 – was furious after social media trolls accused his 31-year-old partner Katie Dadzie of having ulterior motives for their relationship.

He told The Sun newspaper: “I chose to be on television. So I expect everything. I’m up there like an object.”

“I chose to be on TV, but I feel like it’s unfair to pick on my kids, my family or the people I date.

“What upset me was that she was judged without knowing anything about her or her motivations. I found that disturbing and unfair and I felt I had to speak out about it.”

He insisted that while his own career choice means he is “there to be verbally attacked on social media”, there must be a limit.

Nick added: “Feel free to attack me, I’m here to be verbally attacked on social media and everything else because of what I’ve chosen to do in life.

“But it seems a little unfair to me to attack people who are dear to me.”

The 59-year-old presenter also spoke about how people perceive those in the spotlight, while accusing other unnamed celebrities of believing their own hype.

He said: “People have a view of celebrities. I see what I do as a job. It’s an unusual job and it’s in the public eye.”

“A lot of people who do what I do actually start to believe in their own press releases: they’re special and important.

“I always assume that when people meet me, they think I’m this arrogant TV presenter. A lot of people in our industry assume that people have to be impressed to meet them.”
