Message from Acting Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD

On Monday, July 1, after being named UNMC interim chancellor, Dr. H. Dele Davies shared this message with UNMC faculty, staff and students.

To my fellow members of the UNMC community,

Following today’s announcement by University of Nebraska System President Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, I wanted to share with you how excited and honored I am to serve as interim chancellor of the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

During my tenure, I look forward to working with each of you—the exceptional faculty, staff, and students who make up the UNMC community—as we serve our communities, the state of Nebraska, our nation, and the world. I am excited to build on Dr. Gold’s 10-year legacy of leadership at UNMC as we continue to advance our mission of providing premier educational programs, world-class research, and extraordinary health care for Nebraska and beyond.

During my 12 years at UNMC, I have had the privilege of working alongside Chancellors Gold and Harold M. Maurer, MD, and a talented team of deans, faculty, staff, and community partners to enhance UNMC’s academic programs and create the most learner-centered health sciences center in the nation. Moving forward, I will work with all of you to strengthen the relationships we have within the communities we serve, grow Nebraska’s health care workforce, expand our research advancements, continue our commitment to educational innovation, and, as always, seek new opportunities to expand excellence across all of our campuses.

As I take on this new role, I want to tell you that I am grateful for the trust placed in me to lead this exceptional university. I look forward to what we will accomplish together.
