Shadow and Bone author heartbroken over Netflix cancellation, reveals Six of Crows spin-off is also cancelled

Sharing his disappointment about The Shadow and the BoneFollowing Netflix’s recent cancellation, book author Leigh Bardugo has revealed that the project Six of Crows The spin-off was also scrapped.

“My friends, you have probably already heard that there will be no season 3 for The Shadow and the Bone and no Six of Crows “This is a spinoff,” Bardugo wrote in an Instagram post Wednesday. “The news hit me hard. I’m heartbroken and deeply disappointed, but I’m also trying to maintain a very real gratitude.

“Most writers never see their work adapted. Many end up regretting the experience,” she continued. “I am one of the lucky few who can watch an adaptation with pride and immense joy. I am so grateful to our writers, crew, and extraordinary cast who are not only incredibly talented, but also truly quality people.”

Bardugo concluded by showing his appreciation for readers of the Grishaverse novels, which also include Siege and Storm, Ruin and Uprising, Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom, King of Scars And The reign of wolves. (The potential Six of Crows spin off, for which scripts have been writtenwould have adapted the Six of Crows/The Twisted Kingdom (duology of novels.)

“The Grishaverse is a better place because of you and I am so grateful for every tweet, post, comment, review, piece of art, fiction, tattoo, and cosplay that has helped make it all possible,” Bardugo said. “We are book people and that means we never stop imagining that magic can be real. You are proof of that. Now I’m going to cry, and maybe have a drink, and see where the story takes us next.”

The Shadow and the Bone was one of five Netflix series canceled Wednesday, along with the comedy-drama Miss Benny/Kim Cattrall Glamour and animated series for freshmen Agent Elvis, Farzar And Captain Fall.
